Maggie Sadullah
Arte Umbria are pleased to welcome Maggie Saddullah who is joining us 2021.
Maggie has been painting and tutoring for many years now. She has a great love of teaching and gets a real buzz and satisfaction from seeing her students progress.. She is predominantly an oil painter but loves watercolour which she teaches on the cruise ships. She also teaches in acrylic. She is passionate about painting en plein air especially in Italy. She tries to capture the light and atmosphere in an impressionistic style and encourages her students to try and paint not just what they see but also what they feel.
She thoroughly enjoys still life painting. Normally there is a theme and a story behind her work. She has a love of portraiture and painting from the live model which she has studied at The Angel Academy in Florence. She gets such a thrill if she feels she has managed to capture the essence and the spirit of the sitter.
Maggie has studied colour theory in depth and begins by teaching with a limited palette, the three primaries plus titanium white. This she feels gets her students thinking about how to mix colours and the amazing colour mixes one can achieve from only a few colours. She is a strong believer in setting out the palette methodically so this eventually becomes second nature. As she often says if you fly Ryanair…one can not take too many tubes of paint!
