Frequently asked questions.

Q, Do I have to book early?
A, YES! Most courses fill up quickly so it is advisable to book as early as possible to avoid disappointment. Please contact us for late availability just in case there is a space free or to join our waiting lists.

Q, May I bring a non-participating partner ?
A, Yes; non-participating partners are welcome at a large discount for guests staying at Arte Umbria, please see Painting in Europe for their specific discounts.

Q, Is it necessary to have painting/drawing experience ?
A, No; all the courses can cover all levels from beginner to the experienced artist.

Q, Do I need to bring my own equipment ?
A, You are welcome to bring your own equipment, but we provide basic art materials at our home in Umbria. Paints - oil, watercolour, pastels, crayons, pens, inks, brushes, papers and canvases and provide drawing boards, palettes, easels and stools. We recommend you bring your own sketchbooks, and any special paints and colours that we may not have. For courses further afield with Painting in Europe, all 'plein air' courses you must bring all your equipment that you will need. You will be guided by the tutor on this.

Q, How many students are typically on a course ?
A, Normally, there are between 6 and 10 students on each course.

Q, Are there long walking trips, as I may not be able to manage ?
A, We are as flexible as possible to suit peoples needs. Any locations are chosen not just for their beauty, but for conveniences and restaurants/cafes. There are steps throughout the house, and Umbria is slightly hilly.

Q, What type of cuisine ?
A, We have our own chef and offer a selection of fusion food, Italian and International. We try to cater for all dietary requirements.

If you have further questions please do not hesitate to contact us and we will be happy to help.
