Visiting Tutors
For 2012 we are offering a range of courses with some diverse tutors:
Anastasia Pollard RP
Will be joining Arte Umbria to run an Oil Painting Course covering Still Life and Portrait on 23rd May 2012 for one week.
Anastasia Pollard trained at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts and Florence Academy of Art. Her work has been included in numerous exhibitions in Pennsylvania and London. Her portraits have been seen in the Royal Society of Portrait Painters’ Annual Exhibition (2005, 2006 and 2007), winning The Ondaatje Prize for Portraiture plus the Society’s GOLD MEDAL awarded for the most distinguished painting in the Royal Society of Portraiture’s annual exhibition 2009. Pollard’s work has been included in the BP Portrait Award Exhibition in 2006, 2007 and 2009. She is a resident tutor at The Art Academy and London Atelier of Representational Art (LARA).
With a true enjoyment of, and a wealth of experience in teaching, particularly to beginners, Anastasia’s zest for life and superb tutoring brings a new dimension to Arte Umbria’s courses.

Victoria Gamberoni BSA, AFAS
Will be running a Watercolour and Oil course with us on 16 May 2012.
Victoria lives and paints in the West Country. For many years she has taught and run workshops in Water Colour, Oil Painting, and Drawing in Bath in addition to running painting courses in France and Italy.
Victoria encourages all her students to bring their sketch books, she teaches mainly watercolours but often oil painting as well with students who wish to try new mediums, and occasionally abstract. More than happy to teach beginners and also very good artists to enable them to see their work through ‘new eyes’.
This year Victoria was awarded the ‘Farrow and Ball Prize’ (The Bath Prize Exhibition) for her delightful quirky study of The Pump Room in Bath.

In recent years she has made painting trips to the United States, Mexico, India and North Africa and, annually, to Europe. Her recent work focuses on landscape; her figurative work has moved towards semi abstraction while retaining the traditional English strengths of line and composition.
She is an Elected Member, and serves on the committee, of The Bath Society of Artists and is a member of the Armed Forces Arts Society.

Bridget Orlando and Ursula Sykes
Both specialising in Beginners, covering all mediums and drawing. Included within their courses is a 2 day/ 1 night trip to Florence with a private guided tour. See Courses page.
Bridget Orlando studied fine art at Farnham.
Since then, she has forged a niche for herself in the contemporary art world with her bold, stylish and acutely obvervant skill. Covering all mediums, at her happiest encouraging beginners to intermediate levels.
Her vibrant personality adds a touch of bohemianism to the classes, we are lucky to have her.

Ursula Sykes is a graphic designer by training, having worked in London and South Africa.She began her teaching career in 2000 and has built up a large following with her classes in and around Littlewick Green.
Ursula has taught at both East Berkshire College and the Berkshire College of Agriculture, before moving to Littlewick Green in 2003. Perfect to tutor beginners, she aims to create a safe supportive environment for her students, where both debutantes and those who are more experienced can learn at their own pace.
Ursula teaches a variety of art classes at Littlewick Green and a local school, predominantly watercolour, but also covering life drawing, portraits in pastel, pen and wash, acrylic, pencil and charcoal. Her drawing and watercolour skills enable the student to study observation, perspective and proportion and she has a reputation as being a very nurturing, supportive tutor.
Recently, Ursula and one of her classes was included in a Rolf Harris Art Road Show, together with Arabella Dorman, to be broadcast on BBC 1.
Ursula's personal passion is botanical painting because she enjoys the challenge of the discipline.
