ARTE UMBRIA’S VENICE MASTERCLASS IN WATERCOLOUR
Based near Bristol in the UK, Tim Wilmot specialises in beautiful, vibrant watercolours, exploiting the medium with tone and light.
26 September - 3 October 2017
He has painted all his life and apart from doing A level at school, is completely self taught.
Tim especially loves to paint landscapes and is also well known for his water, harbour and boat paintings making him the perfect tutor for Venice. Nearly all his landscapes include figures, cars or boats (as he says - “What street scenes are void of people and vehicles?”)
Tim paints in a loose or impressionistic style influenced by the styles of other artists like Wesson, Yardley, Castagnet and Zbukvic. Most paintings are completed in an hour or two.
A regular exhibitor in the South West of the UK with especially the Bath Society of Artists, Tim has won many regional painting competitions in recent years. As well as being active with painting demonstrations both inside and plein air, Tim has a very active online presence with over 14,000 YouTube followers to his channel and runs regular online demos to attendees from all over the world. Tim love’s to impart his knowledge and skill and enjoys encouraging people in their journey into watercolours.

A few testimonials from some of Tim's students:
"Thank you for the best watercolor demonstration I have ever seen. Can't tell you how much I enjoyed it, learned from it, and will share it with my students (some of whom are very good indeed). I found the chopped-into brush hilarious and will immediately find one I can chop up the same way and try some trees. The things that startled me were the delicacy of some of the calligraphy, the deep values of the shadows (occasionally blotted to achieve luminousity), and the beautiful placement of white highlights. I was also impressed by your leaving alone the trees on the right after you first put them down, and the lack of detail in the tree trunks and minimal indication of branches”
“I'm quite impressed with how you transform a dull image into an impressionistic and beautiful study of light and shadow. You're great tutor! I have chosen your videos as my starting point in watercolor”
“Awesome demo. Like most, I struggle with too much detail. This will help me to "loosen up". I like how methodical you are and how you capture the light in your paintings. I also find it interesting how your figures are always walking towards the viewer. Seems like lost watercolorists have them walking away from the the viewer. I think your way brings your paintings to life.”
