Caroline Bays PS BA PGCE
Portrait & Landscape Painting in oils 19 July 2017
Caroline is joining us again for a week long workshop beginning 19 July 2017. An excellent artist and known tutor. The winner of the 2015 'Conte a Paris Award' at The Pastel Society. Antony Williams, Caroline's husband will be joining us on the course to paint and will give an evening talk on his work.
This unique course offers the opportunity of painting the portrait model in the studio and also painting the beautiful Umbrian landscape on location or in the grounds of the relaxed and friendly atmosphere of the manor house.
This will be an exceptionally inspiring course designed to support individual interests and abilities.
The course will include demonstrations by Caroline, advice on oil painting techniques and materials; drawing and designing your composition; colour mixing for skin colouring and landscape, colour values and capturing the Umbrian light and creating recession and depth in a painting.
Caroline has studied both painting and graphic design and she has a Bachelor of Art in painting and a Post Graduate Certificate in Education.
Caroline paints almost exclusively in oils, bringing a fresh eye to the various subjects she undertakes, including portraits, landscapes and still life painting, which she elevates on to a new plane.
Her work is distinguished by a calm meditative quality, and although echoing the work of 20th century painters as diverse as Morandi, Uglow and Fedden, it is entirely her own, hard won in form and detail.
She regularly exhibits with The Royal Society of Portrait Painters and is a member of the ‘Pastel Society’.
She has been shortlisted for the Lynn Painter Stainers Prize Exhibition 2013, The Hunting Prize, The Discerning Eye and The Garrick Milne Prize with her portrait of Bernard Cribbins.
Caroline shows her work in galleries in London and the provinces and has her work in private collections all over Europe.
