'Watercolour Workshop Flora and Fauna of Umbria, with Landscape'
We will be dividing our time between creating detailed botanical studies of local flowers, birds and local wildlife and some more relaxed painting in the grounds of the Arte Umbria property and other local gardens.
There will be plenty of demonstrations and individual attention to guide you through your drawing and painting, using watercolour, graphite pencil and pen and wash.
Botanical illustration is a wonderful way of portraying the interesting, the unusual or just your favourite plants and flowers.
"I have enjoyed drawing and painting since I was a child and was always encouraged by my parents. I discovered botanical illustration many years ago and was hooked straight away, I had found my 'niche'. Now, illustrating botanical and wildlife is my passion. I love using watercolours and graphite to depict my subjects. My background in graphic design has helped with the exacting nature of this type of illustration, I enjoy looking at the form, the colours, but most of all - the challenge to get it right!"
About the artistBelinda exhibits several times a year and has won many awards for her painting and drawing, including selection for the prestigious 'Focus on Nature XIII' at the New York State Museum, the 'Mortimer Art Prize' (the very best in realism) and the Margaret Flockton Scientific Illustration Award at the herbarium NSW and has works in private collections in Australia, United Kingdom, New Zealand, Italy, Norfolk Island and America.
Belinda is currently teaching painting and drawing for the Tuggerah Lakes Kincumber Community College. Painting, drawing and botanical illustration classes at Morriset. She also runs workshops around New South Wales, and conducts regular painting holidays to Italy, Rarotonga, Norfolk Island and New Zealand.
